Unfortunately accidents involving children getting their fingers caught in doors are an everyday occurrence resulting in injured, bruised, broken or even torn off fingers. Every year in the UK (where statistics are available) more than 40,000 children visit an Accident and Emergency department for treatment of these injuries. The real amount of finger injuries is actually much higher than reported as in many cases a visit to the local GP is the only action taken or in less serious instances no medical treatment is sought.
Over the past seven years our Finger Protection product for doors has been installed in over 250 establishments all over Ireland which include pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, bars, restaurants, work premises, sporting and recreational clubs and domestic households throughout Ireland. The product has been chosen because of its low cost, ease of installation, ability to blend in with all décor, and most importantly - its high quality and durability to perform its job for many years to come.
Finger Protection comes with a 2 year warranty. (Valid only on interior doors and when supplied instructions are adhered to).

Family Finger Protection...
Injuries to the fingertip are common in infants and children because they use their hands to explore and understand their surroundings, while playtime is a fearless hands-on affair.
When caught in a door, injuries to the finger(s) can include crushing, tearing, or amputation, damage to skin and soft tissue, bone (distal phalanx), or to the nail and nailbed. The tips of longer fingers tend to be injured more often because they are last to escape from harm's way. Because fingertips contain complex nerve sysytems that are extremely sensitive, injury and lack of quick and experienced care can disrupt the complex function of the hand, potentially resulting in permanent deformity and disability.
Finger Protection is a transparent strip that covers the gap between the door and doorjamb and prevents fingers and feet from entering into these openings. It can also cover the hinge side of the door where baby and toddler fingers are still small enough to fit into the gap.
Finger Protection is a 1.8m long strip that will prevent toddlers, older children, and adults, who are just as likely to suffer an injury, from getting their fingers caught in the door gaps.

... for creches, restaurants, public buildings, homes
It is strongly advised that strips are screwed into place every 30cm when used in children’s care centres, crèches, or public areas (please take advice from your local hardware store on the type of screw suitable for your door frame material).
Finger Protection comes with a 2 YEAR WARRANTY when used on interior doors. This applies only if a strip has been fitted correctly in accordance with the instructions on this website (see TAB 3). We cannot offer this warranty when strips are used on exterior doors due to varying weather conditions.
Check the strips regularly to ensure they remain securely fastened to the door and please remember: there is no substitute for proper adult supervision.

Installed in 5 Minutes
1. Open the door and thoroughly clean and dry the door and door frame, ensuring no grease or other residues remain.
2. Close the door. Using a pencil, lightly draw two vertical lines: one on the door 3.5cm from the corner and another line on the door frame 5cm from the corner. These lines should reach a height of 1.8m from the floor.
3. Remove the protective paper strip from one side of the Finger Protection strip and attach this adhesive strip to the doorframe just inside the guideline you have drawn, ensuring the bottom of the strip is not scraping the floor. Remove the protective paper strip from the other side and attach it to the door, following the guide line you drew.
4. To ensure correct adhesion, rub your fingers firmly up and down the adhesive strips for 2 minutes, then close the door and do not open it for at least 15 minutes. In crèches, schools and public buildings, we recommend using screws every 30cm.
5. A door with Finger Protection will open up to 110 degrees. If your door normally opens to 180 degrees, we recommend the use of a door stopper to prevent the door opening any further than 110 degrees.

"Since we have had the guards installed on our doors we haven't had one accident. Great invention and really worth the money."
Veronica Sexton, Manager, Mc Donald's, Coolock Retail Park.
"We, at The Park Academy Childcare, use FingerProtection.ie for all our door safety needs and are very happy with them. We have seven childcare facilities in South Dublin and we have tried lots of finger protectors in the past and have had to replace them regularly. These ones are standing the test of time: they are really good and durable. Also because they are a transparent strip they camouflage into the background so they don’t stand out like a sore thumb. FingerProtection.ie makes it very easy to order and always delivers on time and with no hassle. We are delighted with this product."
Eileen Harris, Deputy Manager, Park Academy Childcare"We installed the Finger Protection strips on our crèche doors over five years ago and they are still doing their job in keeping the kids' fingers out of the door jambs. We had previously used a concertina type, which split too easily after 10 months or so. These ones from Finger Protection were easy to install, which saved on getting specialist installation, which drives costs up, and they are almost invisible so that the room decor is not affected. I definitely recommend these protection strips for use in any crèche or school."
